~Sunday Poem

         .

“Valentine, Oh Valentine”
(For the man or the woman of your dreams)

Valentine Oh Valentine…..,
Darlin’ won’t you please be mine….,
My love for you is on the line…..,
Lovely Valentine….! ! !

Valentine, Oh Valentine…..,
The one who makes me feel so fine…..,
You’re in my dreams and on my mind….,
Handsome Valentine….! ! !

Valentine, Oh Valentine…..,
You’ve made me leave my past behind…..,
Let’s toast our future, pour the wine….
Lovely Valentine….! ! !

Rockwell tekende veertig jaar lang de
voorpagina's
voor The Saturday Evening Post.
Tot zijn bekendere thema's behoren:

-Willie Gillis, een gewone soldaat die een
gewoon leven leidde en nooit in een gevecht
terechtkwam.

-Rosie the Riveter
, een vrouw die in de
Amerikaanse defensie-industrie werkt.

-Saying Grace, korte gebeden.

-Four Freedoms, geschilderde voorpagina's met
de vier vrijheden zoals deze door president
Roosevelt waren verwoord:

-Vrijheid van meningsuiting, Godsdienstvrijheid,
'bevrijd van tekortkomingen' en 'vrij van angst'.

Self-portrait .

Without thinking too much about it in specific
terms, I was showing the America I knew and
observed to others who might not have noticed.
My fundamental purpose is to interpret the typical
American. I am a story teller."
~by Norman Rockwell~
.

Norman Rockwell was a 20th century American
painter and illustrator. His works enjoy a broad popular
appeal in the United States, where Rockwell is most
famous for the cover illustrations of everyday life
scenarios he created for The Saturday Evening Post
magazine over more than four decades.
Norman Rockwell thought of himself first and
foremost a commercial illustrator.
Hesitant to consider it art, he harbored deep insecurities
about his work. What is unmistakable, however,
is that Rockwell tapped into the nostalgia of a people
for a time that was kinder and simpler.
His ability to create visual stories that expressed
the wants of a nation helped to clarify and, in a sense,
create that nation's vision.

~More Alice

Through the Looking Glass and

What Alice found There!

Through the Looking-Glass, and
What Alice Found There (1871) is a work of children's
literature by Lewis Carroll (Charles Lutwidge Dodgson)
It is the sequel to Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (1865).
Although it makes no reference to the events in
the earlier book, the themes and settings of
Through the Looking-Glass make it a kind of mirror
image of Wonderland The first book begins outdoors,
in the warm month of May, on Alice's birthday (May 4)
Huses frequent changes in size as a plot device,
also drawing on the imagery of playing cards
The second opens indoors on a snowy, wintry night
exactly six months later, on November 4
(the day before Guy Fawkes Night) It uses frequent
changes in time and spatial directions as a plot device,
and draws on the imagery of chess.
In it, there are many mirror themes, including
opposites, time running backwards, and so on.

No more Space

dus nu moet ik eens even gaan bedenken
wat ik nú verder ga doen???

Ik laat het jullie nog weten!
Groetjes voor nu!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I always work with Window Life Writer
which indicates that
I unfortunately won't be able to add new posts!
I did not understand, at first I thought
an up-date or something.
So I thought I just try to post
with Blogger!
But unfortunately that indicates that my
space area is full ... I just have reached my Tax ..
I can still put text on my blogs
but absolutely no more pictures!
So now I need a few days to think
What I am going to do about this??
I'll let you know soon!
Loving Regards for now!
~Anthony Browne
anthony browne. antony .
Anthony Edward Tudor Browne was born 11 Sept. 1946
and is a British author and illustrator of children's books,
with nearly forty titles to his name.
He is the current Children's Laureate.
Anthony Browne was born in Sheffield, Yorkshire.
His parents, Jack and Doris May Browne, owned a
pub in Wyke, Yorkshire, and Browne grew up there.
As a young boy, he enjoyed art, and used to
draw with his father. He also played rugby in school,
as well as football and cricket.
His future ambition was to be a journalist,
a cartoonist, or a boxer.
He studied graphic design at Leeds College of Art,
where he graduated in 1967.
. anthony-browne.anthony-browne. anthony-browne.anthony-browne     .
He intended to become a painter, but being short
of money he took as job as a medical illustrator,
drawing the insides of bodies for
Manchester Royal Infirmary. After three years
he grew tired of the job's
repetitiveness and moved on to design greeting cards
for Gordon Fraser. He designed cards for fifteen years
before he started writing and illustrating his own books.
.gorilla.
He had his first book published in 1976,
Through the Magic Mirror. It was not particularly
successful at first, although it is still in print.
A Walk in the Park followed and gained a cult
following. Bear Hunt was more commercially successful,
and his breakthrough came with Gorilla in 1983,
an idea from one of the greeting cards he had designed.
It won him the Kate Greenaway Medle,
which he won again in 1992 for Zoo.
He has also won the Kurt Maschler 'Emil' Award
three times, for Gorilla (1983),
Alice's Adventure in Wonderland (1988) and
Voices in the Park (1998). In 2000 he became
the first British illustrator ever to win the
Hans Christian Andersen Award, for his
services to children's literature.
.anthony.
Gorillas are frequently featured in Browne's books,
as he has said he is fascinated by them.
He was once asked to present a children's programme,
whilst sitting in a cage of gorillas, and despite
being badly bitten by one of them he got on with
it before being taken to hospital. His character "Willy"
is said to be based on himself. He currently resides in Kent.
