Nene Tina Thomas begon professioneel
te schilderen in 1994, toen ze benaderd werd door
Wizards of the Coast om bij te dragen aan
het populaire kaartspel "Magic: the Gathering." 
Een aantal andere kaarten waarop haar werk
te zien is zijn Shadowfist, Legend of the Five Rings,
Galactic Empires, Tempest of the Gods, Wyrmwars,
Gridiron, Vampire: The Eternal Struggle, Xenophiles,
en Battlelords of the 23rd Century.

 

Hoewel Nene het beste bekend is van haar werk
met waterverf is ze recent begonnen met het uitbreiden
van haar artistieke horizon met andere media,
waaronder digitale technieken. Nene's grootste
artistieke ambitie is om op een perfecte manier de
afbeelding die ze voor haar geestes-oog ziet,
te vangen op papier.

Over de afgelopen twee jaar heeft Nene het geluk
gehad dat haar werk vertaald werd naar een
variëteit aan producten, waaronder beelden,
ornamenten, stickers, en t-shirts. op

Nene woont op dit moment in Oklahoma City met
haar echtgenoot Steven Plagman, die ook zorgt
voor het inlijsten en het snijden van passé-partouts.
Nene is overdag bezig met schetsen, onderzoeken,
schilderen en spelen met haar vijf katten:
Ze heeft drie zussen en twee broers,
die allemaal artistiek en muzikaal getalenteerd zijn.
 

I have been drawing and painting for most of my life,
but I began my professional career in 1994 when
I was approached by a company called Wizards
of the Coast to contribute work to the popular
Collectible Card Game called "Magic: the Gathering." 

She has three sisters and two brothers,
all of them artistic and musically talented.

 
Nene said: “Creating new artwork for the various
companies that feature my work on their
products keeps me very busy, but I am making
time to work on the project that I have
been imagining for over twenty years. 
It is called “The Zarryiostrom”, and will be a multi-part
fantasy novel featuring many of the characters that
I have painted over the years.  Last year my husband
started writing the first novel, and I started painting images
to go with it.  The first book, entitled “Powerborne”, is
nearly complete, and I couldn’t be more excited. 
It will take a couple of years to finish it, mainly because
my painting schedule is dominated by projects for
licensing companies, but when it is done it will be
extremely long, with (hopefully!) an illustration per chapter.
